ICESAT-2 AR POSTER
A collab from outer space
In Winter 2023, I had the privilege of joining the NASA x SCADpro creative team as one of their AR developers and graphic designer. Our collaborative effort resulted in the creation of various AR experiences to communicate ICESat-2’s science and engineering.
For this project, we conceptualized and designed an interactive poster that showcases a 3D model of the satellite that highlights its key components and functions.
PROCESS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This work was part of an ongoing prototype started by fellow team members. My main responsibility was to bring it to the finish line, participating on both the development of the AR experience and the design of the physical poster.
For the AR experience:
Autodesk Maya: Continued to clean the geometry of the asset, reduced the poly count, and grouped components into “families” for animation.
Adobe Illustrator: Designed labels and wrote content to describe key components of the satellite.
Meta Spark Studio: Programmed user interactions such as the sound effects, animations of the expanding satellite, appearance of labels, and activation of lasers. I was also responsible for the materials and textures.
For the physical poster:
Autodesk Maya: Look development, lighting and rendering of the model.
Photoshop: Copy writing, graphic design, and art direction.
